Protecting the confidentiality of patients and customers is of paramount importance if the relationship of trust is to be maintained. Bath ASU has policies and procedures in place to ensure that as far as possible that confidentiality is protected at all times.
A duty of confidence arises when one person discloses information to another in circumstances where it is reasonable to expect that the information will be held in confidence. It is a legal obligation that is derived from case law, and a requirement established within professional codes of conduct. Bath ASU has appointed a Caldicott Guardian to safeguard patient data and acts under The Data Protection Act 1998.
